The Vermont Shakespeare Company, in announcing its selection of William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet for its Shakespeare in the Park production next August, unveiled two other programs scheduled in the meantime.
On Dec. 6, the company will perform a staged reading of Will, a new play about Shakespeare by Jon Glascoe. The reading at the Off Center for the Dramatic Arts in Burlington, 294 North Winooski Ave., Suite 116C, will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15.
Vermont Shakespeare Company is also planning a "Vino and the Bard" event next April, "An evening of wine and Shakespeare," says the company's e-mail, which goes on to say, "It's the annual meeting of Shakespeare characters. They have some concerns…"
The company also is scheduling a Shakespeare Salon on the second Fridays of each month to discuss some of the less frequently produced plays. The first salon on Nov. 14 will cover King John. Further information will be available on the company's Facebook page.
Also, Artistic Director Jena Necrason is planning to conduct weekly Physical Acting classes and a Devising Master Class at the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts in Burlington next spring. Details to come (either at the Vermont Shakespeare Company website or the Flynn Center website).
